Pillow Cases
Dear Ms. Stern, Mr. Robbins and Family:
My name is Joshua Rosenberg, and I am currently pledging the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity at the University of Miami. I wanted to write to you to express my sincerest condolences for the passing your son, Eitan. I had only known Eitan for maybe three weeks, and only have nice things to say about him.
He was one of my favorite pledge-brothers, and I was really looking forward to getting to know him throughout the pledge process. He was always smiling and knew how to make a bad situation into a positive one. I don't know if he told you about the weekend we had to go to South Carolina... Basically, there were eight of us in one hotel room. Obviously we all were not going to fit in the beds, so Eitan and I decided to set up camp on the floor. Only problem with that was the hotel did not have enough blankets and pillows for us to sleep with.
Fortunately, there were plenty of pillow cases... Eitan came up the idea of laying down the pillow cases to make a mock sleeping-bag. The carpet smelt like skunk and was very uneven, denting my back for days to come. Before turning over and passing out, I glimpsed over at Eitan. There he was shaking his head, while laughing at the same time. I started laughing back, and we both stuck it up and went to sleep. He really made the trip worth laughing about.
I truly just wanted to share how amazing of a person I found your son to be after only knowing him for such a short period of time. I really pictured us being great friends. I am so sorry that this has happened, because he was too young and too great of a person to go so soon.
With all my love,
Josh Rosenberg
