Eitan Story

Eitan Samuel Stern-Robbins

Winter Snow

April 16, 2013

I can't actually remember meeting Eitan, I just remember him being part of the whole group of people I used to hang out with. Eitan was hilarious. He really stuck up for Lauren and I when we started to have a hard time in the group and continued to hang out with us even when the rest of them wouldn't talk to us. Every once in a while, we would really get to talking about all the things that bothered us at school and with friends, the regular teenage angst stuff, I suppose, but I felt very close to him during those conversations. Although I didn't spend as much time with him as the others, I still felt that I had a good friend in him that I could always go and talk to. I think we shared a lot of the same issues, so we could relate to each other.

Christmas break, Junior year, we went over to his house a lot to hang out. It was mostly just long nights spent hanging out in the basement, watching the others playing Super Smash Bros and throwing M&M's at each other. It snowed a lot that winter and we would often go out in the middle of the night to hang out in the nearby park. Now, whenever I see the snow falling in the yellow light of the street lamps, I always feel the urge to go back there, to hang out with him and old friends, when everything seemed perfect.

Eitan was a big part of what I thought of as Cambridge. He represented Cambridge for me in many ways and I don't think I will ever look at the city's streets the same way again. With him goes my high school experience and it makes me very sad to think that I will never be able to see him again and relive those happy high school days.
