Eitan Story

Eitan Samuel Stern-Robbins

Just a Random Eitan Memory

This isn't really a deep, emotional memory of Eitan, but it's goofy and that's kind of how Eitan was.

I can't remember where this was, I guess it must have been late at night at someone's house. We were all sitting around and somehow people started sinigng the Don McClean song "American Pie". Now, I've never actually listened to the song. The only reason I know the melody is because Weird Al Yankovic did a parody of it about the Star Wars prequels (my my this here Anakin guy, stuff like that). But anyway, people were singing the song, and I wanted to be a part of it so I just started singing the Weird Al version. Then I sort of looked around at everyone and I noticed that across the room Eitan was sitting and singing the Weird Al version of the song too. We both made eye contact, realized that we were both singing a cheesy parody, laughed and kept on singing.

I don't know why this memory sticks out so much to me. I guess it kind of shows the kind of person Eitan was. He had no problem singing a goofy song by himself, and if other people joined in he just smiled and sang louder.
